Community Outreach Program
Aspire Academy at Bella Vista College Prep is passionate and persuasive advocates for developing our student-athletes to be well-rounded citizens who are actively engaged in the world. Community involvement is a priority for Aspire and BVCP. We continually seek ways to identify community service opportunities. All student-athletes engage in service projects throughout the year. We are strong-held in our belief that no matter what path that you may take in your life, it is important always to find the time to engage with your surrounding community.
Aspire requires student-athletes to take part in monthly community service projects in addition to BVCP‘s community service requirements, working with charity and community organizations, as well as schools and hospitals. Some projects are short term while others continue throughout the school year. For example, bi-weekly basketball clinics for the local youth are put on by the Aspire staff with the help of Aspire student-athletes. Other student-athletes volunteer to help with setting up, providing course guidance, and cleaning up for community fundraising events. Among the numerous student efforts are:
- Collecting food for the local food pantry and clothing for the needy
- Singing Christmas carols at the local nursing home
- Raising funds for cancer and other disease research through Coaches vs. Cancer and other activities
- Bi-weekly youth basketball clinics for local youth
- Supporting youth in sports through a variety of projects
- Raising funds for Special Olympics
- Assisting special-needs students in the Unified Sports Day and offering clinics for special-needs athletes
- Participating in the Make-a-Wish program for young cancer patients
- Reading to Bella Vista’s elementary school classes
